A Warrant of Fitness (WoF) is a regular inspection to check that your vehicle meets the required safety standards at the time of inspection. This helps to ensure that all vehicles driving are roadworthy and not a danger to the driver and others. As the owner it is your responsibility to keep the vehicle in a satisfactory condition to pass a WoF inspection.

As a WoF agent we are dictated by the inspection manual defined and updated by the NZTA. The inspection will include but not be limited to:

  • Tyre condition (including tread depth)
  • Braking system
  • Structural Condition of the vehicle
  • Lights, windows and doors
  • Safety belts
  • Airbags (if fitted to the vehicle)
  • Speedometer
  • Steering and suspension
  • Exhaust system
  • Fuel system

Criteria for a Warrant of Fitness can be found on the NZTA website. www.nzta.govt.nz

We carry out inspections on:

  • Cars
  • Trailers
  • Caravans

The frequency of your warrant of inspection is dependent on the age of your vehicle. For vehicles registered before the year 2000 the inspection is required 6 monthly. Vehicles registered after 1st of January 2000 annual inspections are required.

WoF inspections carried out on modified vehicles requiring low volume certification will incur an additional $15 charge due to the increase in time required to inspect and verify the modifications.
